The Rest of the Week in Halifax

The second half of our week in Halifax was highlighted by two events:
A hurricane named Arthur
and
The Halifax Royal International Tattoo

We've had a great campsite with an attached deck that was lovely to
use when the weather cooperated.  A lovely glass of wine on a shady deck.

The rv rocked and rolled a bit in the winds of Arthur and blew a heavy mist.
We were spared the heavy rains that New Brunswick got.  All in all, an interesting
experience for desert dwellers.  Check that one off the bucket list!

This is how it looked the day after Arthur.

Heading into Halifax for the Tattoo performance we were greeted by this
impressive group.  We thought it was for our arrival, but turned out to be the
welcoming party for the dignitaries attending.  The laughed along with us
and invited us to make a grand entrance among their ranks.

I named this guy Mr. Slick.  He did the warm up before the tattoo.
The hand never came out of his pocket and he was perfect at playing to all sides.

A tattoo celebrates the military with impressive showmanship.
There's also entertainment from around the world, lots of laughs,
perfect flow and coordination, and nearly 3 hours of pleasure from start to finish.

Irish dancers

Dutch bicycles

Bagpipes, kilts, highland flingers

Danish rope jumpers (just kids) who crossed 8 ropes,
jumped and flipped and no one tripped

Swiss parallel wizards who kept us laughing

Royal Canadian Mounties who had no horses so galloped
around laughing along with us - in perfect unison, of course.

Swiss break dancers who did a mean gangnam style.
Actually they are acrobats...

The precision drummers from Switzerland.
Our favorite act.  Ed says "worth the price of the ticket."
Introduced as the top drumming corp in the world, they did not disappoint!
They had a duel, drummed with fire, and no one missed a step.
Amazing!

In action

Fallen soldiers were honored with Amazing Grace and families we call
Gold Star families.  Very touching.

German and Chech flyers who walked past each
other on one bar...

Tumbling kids from Denmark who spent most of the time in midair

The Dutch bikers had an encore that got a standing O

The performance

The Flying Grandpas.
The Stooges doing dangerous stuff..
They are from Germany.

The finale with the entire cast.

See it live

What a treat to be here and experience this event!

We move on to Lunenburg...
